The need is on going. The images of Haiti that we've seen since the earthquake, have been filled with pain, horrorand devastation. The destruction and tragedy is overwhelming.
I still do not know about some of our friends and artists living there. We're still waiting to hear ...about these gentle, talented and intelligent people.I visited Haiti many times, due to my involvement withHaitian art. I got to know some citizens, and some places we've seen on the news ... some sadly destroyed.Since that time, the 1980's, I've grown to love Haiti, the culture and the people. Haiti was the first blacknation to gain independence, in 1804. Haiti is also the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, but the people are proud survivors.
Please give - no matter how little.

I know the Monnin's personally and I highly recommend this foundation. The Dallas Monnin Foundation was created in 2002 by the Monnin Family and named in honor of their late daughter The philosophy of the FONDAM is to protect the environment through reforestation to conserve the watershed areas and to conduct civic education classes for children in the Port Salut area of Haiti. For now there is a special relief fund for the Monnin Gallery artists set up through Fondam.
